Founded in 2010, the Yale-Tulane ESF- 8 Planning and Response Network provides the training and experience necessary for interested members of the public health and medical workforce to support incident specific, unified planning and response operations at the local, state, federal, international levels as well as the private sector. 

One of the service-learning opportunities that the Network provides students is participation in the Virtual Medical Operation Center (VMOC).Contributors, located in a variety of geographic locations, provide information gathered from situation reports, government and non-governmental organization, media reporting, and a variety of information sources, and verifies and synchronizes the information  and provide real-time information products to federal, state, local, and international response organizations.
